Carruth Cottage is mere walking distance from the Lake Junaluska Conference Center making it the perfect rental for conference attendees. Walk to the conference facilities or take the little ones to the Lake Junaluska playground. Take a leisurely stroll along the paved walking path that circles the lake while enjoying the historic buildings and the stunning mountain vistas that surrounds the entire area. The 3.8 mile walking trail has several gazebos and benches where you can stop and rest while enjoying your stroll around the lake. If you prefer, you can shorten your walk to 2.3 miles by crossing the footbridge above the dam. Whichever way you choose to go, don’t miss walking through the “Rose Walk” which includes more than 200 hybrid tea, grandiflora, and floribunda roses.

Golfers will enjoy a round of golf at the Lake Junaluska 18-hole golf course. While playing golf at the 68 par course you can take in the spectacular views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. This course is open to the public and families are welcome.

Carruth Cottage is just a few minutes’ drive to the heart of Maggie Valley, Cataloochee Ski Area (known for being one of the first ski resorts in the US to open each year), Tube World (snow tubing), Wheels Through Time (a historic motorcycle museum featured on the History Channel’s “American Pickers”), horseback riding and only a few miles from golfing. In about 20 minutes, you could be in Waynesville at Ingles and Publix grocery stores, Walmart or head to Main Street in Waynesville and enjoy additional shopping, dining, and sightseeing.

This home is about a 20-minute drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and Harrah’s Cherokee Casino (even if you do not gamble, Harrah’s has some of the best restaurants around), Pisgah National Forest, several golf courses, and just west of Cherokee is Bryson City (home of the Great Smoky Mountain Railway and “Polar Express” during the Christmas Holiday).

A little more than 50 minutes away, you’ll arrive in Asheville at the Biltmore Estate & Winery (America’s largest and most visited privately-owned home), many great restaurants and micro-breweries, and 1 hour and 30 minutes away is Transylvania County (home of the most waterfalls in the United States), and over 100 Antique Shops.

Approximately 1 hour away heading south to Hendersonville, you can visit Sierra Nevada Brewery (with their enormous dining and Tap Room), gem mining, white water rafting, zip-lining and much more in the surrounding areas.
