Elk Woods Retreat is a lovely log home in the pristine neighborhood of The Preserve at Jonathan Creek, offering quiet mountain relaxation while being mere minutes from the main strip in Maggie Valley. Soak in the beautiful mountain views from the screened in deck offering a custom built in bar tabletop. The extensive wrap around deck will lead you to the picnic area and brand new hot tub. Inside you will find cathedral ceilings in the open great room complete with a wall of floor to ceiling windows. The kitchen, dining room, and living room are all on the main floor as well as a queen bedroom, full bathroom/laundry room, and wrap around deck. The upstairs boasts a large open loft with built in bench seating (kids have been known to use the benches for sleeping, as you can see in the photos, they can be converted to 2 additional, single sized cots). Also, upstairs you will find another full bathroom and a queen bedroom. The upstairs bedroom offers a private balcony giving you the perfect place to enjoy the serenity of the mountains. This beautiful home comes equipped with central heat and A/C, Wifi, smart TV with loads of apps, hot tub, charcoal grill. Living room fireplace in currently out of service.
Just a 25 minute drive to the heart of Maggie Valley, Cataloochee Ski Area, Tony’s Tube World (snow tubing), Wheels Through Time (historic motorcycle, as featured on History Channels “American Pickers”), horseback riding and golfing. In less than 16 minutes, you could be in Waynesville at Ingles and Publix grocery stores, Walmart or head to Main Street in Waynesville and enjoy additional shopping, dining, and sightseeing.
This cabin is a 35 minute drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway, The Smoky Mountain National Park, and the Harrah’s Casino in Cherokee (even if you do not gamble it has some of the best restaurants around), Pisgah National Forest, several golf courses, and just west of Cherokee is Bryson City (home of the Smoky Mountain Railway and “Polar Express” during the Christmas Holiday).
Not even 40 minutes away, you’ll arrive in Asheville at the Biltmore Estates & Winery, several micro-breweries, and 1 hour and 20 minutes away is Transylvania County (home of the most waterfalls in the United States), and over 100 Antique Shops.
Approximately, 50 minutes away heading south to Hendersonville, you can visit Sierra Nevada Brewery (with their enormous dining and Tap Room), gem mining, white water rafting, zip-lining and much more in the surrounding areas. You are 1 hour 20 minutes to Gatlinburg, TN and Pigeon Forge (home of Dollywood).
Accessibility is a slightly steep, well maintained, paved road, not far off Johnathan Creek Rd., a main access road. We do experience inclement weather in this region, seasonally, all-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive is recommended for access in late fall and winter.
