Donna’s Dream is the closest on mountain property in our rental program to Cataloochee Ski Area. This custom built timber frame log home is located above the ski area and Cataloochee Ranch with breath taking, long range mountain views which can be enjoyed from the screened in front porch. It has 4 bedrooms, game room, 2 stone fireplaces and so much more, you’ll never want to leave. With its open floor plan the family room on the main floor is centered around a stone, wood burning fireplace and the room’s expansive cathedral ceilings open to the loft. Off of the family room is the screened in front porch as well as the kitchen/dining area, where you will find all the comforts of home with new stainless appliances.
The Master Suite is located on the main floor of the cabin, with a very comfortable king size bed with a down comforter, a television with satellite reception and a private bath, as well, access to the front screened porch. The loft area opens to the family room and you can enjoy a quiet afternoon reading a book or taking a quick nap on the love-seat. Very open and bright, the family room is also great for kids to play games on the large, clean floor space. The two upstairs guest bedrooms are adjacent to the loft area of the cabin. One room has a queen size bed with a down comforter, desk/vanity area and access to the shared bath located in between the bedrooms. The second bedroom upstairs also has a full size bed and a twin size daybed set up under the window looking out at the views, with access to the bath. The downstairs guest room is by the game room is another elegant suite, with a queen size bed, complete with down comforter, a 27” TV with DVD player, a private bath, and access to the yard in front of the cabin. Also located downstairs is the game room, with a pool table, stone wood burning fireplace, 27“ TV with satellite reception, VCR and a game station. *Please note this house does not have air conditioning or internet.
Less than a 11 min drive up to Cataloochee Ski Area, or over to Tony’s Tube World (snow tubing), only 20 minutes to Wheels Through Time (historic motorcycle, as featured on History Channels “American Pickers”), horseback riding and golfing. In just over 30 minutes, you could be in Waynesville at Ingles and Publix grocery stores, Walmart or head to Main Street in Waynesville and enjoy additional shopping, dining, and sightseeing.
This cabin is less than a 40 minute drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway, The Smoky Mountain National Park, and the Harrah’s Casino in Cherokee (even if you do not gamble it has some of the best restaurants around), Pisgah National Forest, several golf courses, and just west of Cherokee is Bryson City (home of the Smoky Mountain Railway and “Polar Express” during the Christmas Holiday).
Only 60 minutes away, you’ll arrive in Asheville at the Biltmore Estates & Winery, several micro-breweries, and 1 hour and 15 minutes away is Transylvania County (home of the most waterfalls in the United States), and over 100 Antique Shops.
Approximately, 1 hour away heading south to Hendersonville, you can visit Sierra Nevada Brewery (with their enormous dining and Tap Room), gem mining, white water rafting, zip-lining and much more in the surrounding areas. You are 1 hour 40 minutes to Gatlinburg, TN and Pigeon Forge (home of Dollywood).
Access is moderate on partial paved and partial gravel/dirt mountain road. We do experience inclement weather in this region, seasonally, all-wheel drive and/or 4-wheel drive and possibly tirechains are recommended in late fall or winter.
