Enjoy wonderful scenic views while taking a large private bridge over roaring Jonathon Creek and up Seay Mountain to Bear Pause Cabin. You’ll enjoy your stay in this cozy 2 Bedroom, 2 Bath Log Cabin, boasting a shaded and cool covered porch. Due to the altitude and beautifully wooded area, during cooler weather, a gas fireplace is available for warmth. Central Heat and A/C is also available, during warmer weather.
The cabin’s location is in Waynesville, less than 5 miles from the Cataloochee Ski Area in Maggie Valley (seasonally offering snow skiing and snow tubing). Other local activities are horseback riding, numerous mountainside golf courses, hiking the Appalachian Trails and other local trails. If visiting craft, antique and gift shops are in your interests, there are plenty in town and surrounding areas. Restaurants in Waynesville, Maggie Valley and nearby towns boast many flavorful options, from Southern home cooked meals, multi-cultural and fine dining, as well as, local craft breweries and distilleries. Just on the west side of Maggie Valley, you can take in the nightlife and gambling at Harrah’s Casino, in Cherokee (16 miles away).
Bear Pause Cabin is the perfect vacation rental whether you are coming to see the Smoky Mountains via the Blue Ridge Parkway, or the famous Biltmore Estate, in Asheville (via I-40 only 28 miles away). You’ll enjoy many photo opportunities when visiting the Wheels Through Time Motorcycle and Transportation Museum n Maggie Valley (2.7 miles away) or one of the most popular sights Cataloochee Valley Overlook to see the elk, bears, deer and wild turkey and historical buildings in just under 10 miles from the cabin.
A short drive of less than 20 minutes, and you’ll be at Ingles and Publix grocery stores, Walmart, or Downtown, Main Street in Waynesville. There you can enjoy restaurants like Sauced, Sweet Onion, Boojum Brewery, Firefly and many more. While enjoying Main Street in Downtown Waynesville, stop by the many boutiques, customer furniture stores and even a dog friendly bakery.
If you want to head North, you’ll be in historic Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge (home of Dollywood), in just under an hour and a half. Within 35-45 minutes you could be rafting in the Smokies in Hartford, TN. In just over an hour you can get to beautiful DuPont State Forest, home of Hooker Falls, Bridal Veil Falls and Triple Falls, where parts of Last of the Mohicans and The Hunger Games were filmed.
If heading South in just under an hour away in Hendersonville, you can visit Sierra Nevada Brewery (with their enormous dining and Tap Room), gem mining, white water rafting, zip-lining and much more in the surrounding areas. You are just about an hour and half to Gatlinburg, TN and Pigeon Forge (home of Dollywood).
Approach is a gravel road with a steady grade, allowing 2-wheel drive unless there’s icy/snowy weather. At other times, seasonally, we do experience inclement weather in this region, which could limit accessibility.
