Amos Cabin

Although Amos Cabin has a modern luxury bathroom and remodeled master bedroom, the integrity of this historic cabin has remained intact. Relax in the hot tub on the back porch overlooking the creek or curl up in front of the fireplace in the living room while enjoying modern comforts such as HDTV and central heat & air conditioning. Bring the marshmallows and enjoy the firepit in the back yard. Amos Cabin is located on a paved road with easy access just minutes from the Heart of Maggie Valley. Amos Cabin is written up in the local history books as Maggie Valley’s oldest standing home. It dates to the 1850’s. It was owned by Amos Plott – decendendant of Johannes Plott who came from Germany in the late 1700’s with what would become the North Carolina State Dog – The Plott Hound. Amos was a great bear hunter- thus the bear motiff at his newly remodeled cabin. True to his blood inheritance, Amos used the Plott Hunting Dog and was said to go bear hunting with Chief Junaluska in the mountains around Maggie Valley. The “Plott” line continued to become the Campbells. Crockett Campbell in particular, whom the children study in Maggie Valley schools as one of the prominant founding fathers of Maggie Valley. His home place is in view of Amos Cabin. Amos Cabin has stayed in the Plott-Campbell-Fisher family and is now owned by Amos’s great, great, grandson.
